The sterilization process of copper is called "contact sterilization", which mainly destroys microorganisms through the following three methods:
1.Destruction of cell membrane: Copper ions will adsorb onto negatively charged bacterial cell membranes, causing membrane structure rupture and leakage of cell contents (similar to a "blowout").
2.Oxidative stress response (ROS): Copper ions react with oxygen inside cells to produce reactive oxygen species (such as free radicals), which oxidize and destroy bacterial proteins and enzymes like strong acids.
3.Degradation of genetic material: Copper ions can enter the interior of cells and degrade the DNA/RNA of bacteria or viruses, completely cutting off their reproductive ability.
