You may have noticed that our copper nanowires arrive in a solvent-wet form rather than as a dry powder. This is not a packaging shortcut — it is a deliberate, quality-first decision that protects the material at every step from our production line to your process.
Here is why.
A copper nanowire is roughly 200-300 nanometers in diameter but tens of micrometers in length — an extreme surface-to-volume ratio that makes it chemically active. Dry powder left in contact with air oxidizes quickly: the surface turns from red to black as Cu₂O/CuO forms, and electrical conductivity — the very reason you chose copper nanowires — degrades. Immersed in solvent, the nanowires are shielded from oxygen, keeping them bright, intact, and conductive from the day they are made until the day you use them.
High-surface-area metal nanoparticles in dry form can heat up and even ignite in contact with air. A wet form eliminates that hazard and also removes the combustible-dust risk during storage and shipping — which is why solvent-wet packaging is simpler and safer to transport worldwide.
Once copper nanowires dry out, they agglomerate into hard, irreversible clusters. Re-dispersing them is difficult, and aggressive sonication — often used to break up clusters — can snap the nanowires into shorter, lower-performance pieces. Our wet form keeps the nanowires in their original dispersed state. You simply dilute, mix, and go.
We control the solvent type (ethanol / isopropanol / water), the solids content, and the dispersion quality at our site, so every batch you receive is consistent and ready to formulate into transparent conductive coatings, flexible electronics, or conductive inks.
Solids content:Check the COA for the net nanowire content (typically 10–30%) — pricing is based on net solids, not total weight.
Solvent:Water.
Storage:Sealed, cool, away from light; prevent solvent evaporation so the nanowires never meet air.
Incoming check:Color should be bright copper-red; darkening or hard clumping indicates oxidation — please contact us immediately.
Quality is not just about what we make — it is about what arrives, and what you can make with it. If you have questions about the wet form, or need a different solvent or solids content, we will be glad to tailor the product to your application.
